Who am I?
I am John Cushnie of Cushnie Landscapes .

If you are interested in gardening (and presumably you are otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this) then you will probably know me best from my many years of broadcasting and writing activities.

John Cushnie Landscapes is ready to provide you with a beautiful, low maintenance garden that will not only give you endless years of ongoing pleasure but can also add significant capital value to your home. We are a personal landscape design and contracting company. I and my team have many years of practical experience and all of my team have specialist skills in at least one particular aspect of landscaping.

Thirty nine years of answering questions on BBC Radio Ulster’s gardening programmes and the last fifteen of those dealing with the questions from Britain’s gardeners on BBC Radio 4’s Gardeners Question Time coupled with my recent appearances as the popular Hedge Man of BBC’s Radio 2’s Chris Evans Show gives me an edge when there is a tricky situation or unusual problem. By the way I am the one with the funny accent!

For the past three years I have had enormous fun presenting the “Greenmount Garden” for BBC 1 Northern Ireland. For between 14 and 20 weeks each year we have brought hints and tips to the viewers with lots of advice and “get your hands dirty” practical jobs. Each week there is sensible garden design along with problem solving.

Previous series of television gardening programmes include presenting BBC 1 “ Room with a View ” and BBC1/ RTE “ Greenfingers ”.

I write for the Daily Telegraph Saturday Gardening supplement and am delighted to do so. It is the only dedicated gardening supplement in any of the national newspapers. Not only has the editor, Kylie O’Brien collected up a wheel barrowful of good gardening writers but also the advertisements are worth reading. Some of the plant and bulb collections on offer are to die for. For the last two years they have received the Garden Newspaper of the Year award from the Garden Media Guild and that in gardening terms is an Oscar!
